Photojournalism Award Given to Photographer Who Used His iPhone
Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 04:22PM While doing a photographic shoot yesterday for the lovely Elizabeth Purvis of Marketing Goddess (www.marketinggoddess.com), we talked about my latest photography show, which is hanging at Fuel Cafe. Half of the photos are a photodocumentary taken from both coasts, New York and San Francisco. Those photos are all taken with my iPhone, using the Hipstamatic App. I think something marvelous and perhaps miraculous happened with that app. The creators intended to make money and, in the process, they created something that actually makes pure beauty. Beauty was the unexpected result. And, if you let the iPhone go, who cares? Just let the beauty be and know that it's there. Ultimately, the iPhone is a tool. That's what I wanted to explore with this show. Could I take photos that are worthy of putting up and showing to others? You be the judge.
